Woodlouse at midnight

I sat outside and noticed some stuff

Drunk, of course

Me, not the stuff

Drunk of course

I would not notice sober

The plant stirring happily in the midnight breeze

Oblivious to me and my ancestors that mutated it

The woodlouse

The poor senile woodlouse

Climbing tiredly up the red brick wall

With big brick gaps

But at least it has plenty of legs, as well as feelers

Climbing vertically

Why vertically? You stupid little old woodlouse

Relax. Take some advice from the mutant plant

I turn, and a stem of one is close to my face

Nearly touching my cigar

Then moves, or is moved

To protect it from the heat

And me

I am outside even this

Even this outsideness

Strange
